Complex Influence
Terry Winters is another influence I am dealing with. But his case is more complicated for me. Sometimes I love his imagery (like above). But at other times I feel that there is more care in a Chuck Close underpainting than anything Winters ever did. Then I go back and admire his work ethic and effort to “make things happen.” Then I abhor the amount of junk that his mentality produces…hmm. I guess it is not necessary to accept or deny the whole package…I’ll just focus on what I can use.
